HR TOURS: SPIDER TOURMonastero Castle, August 31st 2010 The ingredients were perfect: a beautiful but not too hot a day, a happy and united team, a wonderful base (the resort of Monastero Castle, in Chianti) surrounded by pleasant country roads as far as the eye can see. In this scenery HR Tours organized, on behalf of an agency, a spider tour – one of its specialties – for about 30 people, on a strictly vintage fleet composed as follows: seven Alfa Romeo duettos, three Fiat 1.500 cabriolets, two Fiat 124 spiders, two MG “B” and one Triumph spitfire. What a stunning sight! The cars were brought from Rome on tailored transporters and parked in front of the resort. Then, after a short briefing, the participants took possession of them and ... off! with joy and caution along the winding roads of Tuscany. Amidst rolling hills and picturesque vineyards our "trippers" made a stop at the castle of San Giovanni d'Asso, located on a 310 metre high hill, near a clay cliff overlooking both the river Asso and the medieval village below: a really scenic spot, which a visit to the local truffle museum of the made even more delicious. The procession was preceded by a staff car, followed by a 9-seater minivan and escorted by three experts from the local Vespa Club. HR Tours, as usual, provided mechanical assistance along the whole route. |
